- Tamil Nadu has decided to expand the Singapengal Entrepreneurship Credit Scheme by increasing cooperative lending and widening beneficiary coverage.
- The State Government has directed officials to increase loans under the scheme by 25% through cooperative banks and credit societies.
- The scheme will now cover youth and marginalised sections, in addition to Self-Help Groups (SHGs), to promote entrepreneurship.
- Officials have been instructed to ensure that at least 30% of loans in all categories are provided to new members.
- The scheme aims to improve access to credit through the cooperative sector and strengthen entrepreneurship across the State.
