The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court appointed water conservationist Rajendra Singh as Commissioner to study pollution in the Thamirabarani River.
The order was passed on January 3, 2026.
Rajendra Singh is a Ramon Magsaysay Award recipient.
Rajendra Singh, also known as the "Waterman of India" is a renowned Indian environmentalist and water conservationist.
He has been directed to conduct a detailed study of the river’s condition.
He will submit suggestions for remedial measures to control pollution.
