- The US Department of State has designated ‘The Resistance Front’ as a "foreign terrorist organisation" and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) over the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
- It is an offshoot of the Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
- India welcomed this decision and highlighted three evils - terrorism, separatism and extremism – in the World.
- Designating an outfit as an FTO makes financing, aiding, advising and helping such an organisation a crime under US law.
