- Tamil Nadu amended the Tamil Nadu Combined Development and Building Rules, 2019, to ease norms for green and white category industries.
- The minimum road width required in peri-urban village panchayat and village panchayat areas has been reduced from 7 metres to 6 metres.
- This relaxation applies only to green and white category industries in these rural and peri-urban areas.
- In municipal, corporation, and town panchayat areas, the minimum road width remains 7 metres for all industry categories.
- Orange and red category industries still require a minimum road width of 7 metres in all areas.
- The Floor Space Index (FSI) for all industrial categories — white, green, orange, and red — remains at two.
- Tamil Nadu had earlier classified 609 industries under the white category as part of regulatory simplification.
