  • India successfully test-fired the nuclear-capable Agni-4 Medium-Range Ballistic Missile (MRBM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha, under the Strategic Forces Command (SFC).
    • Agni-4 is a two-stage, solid-fuel missile with a range of around 4,000 km and a payload capacity of about 1,000 kg.
  • The 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting was held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026.
    • The meeting focused on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), skill development, research and innovation, mutual recognition of qualifications, and academic leadership.
  • The elusive Himalayan serow (Capricornis thar) was recorded in Dalhousie Forest Division, Himachal Pradesh, after nearly 20 years.
    • The IUCN lists it as Near Threatened due to habitat degradation, fragmentation and hunting.

  • Indian squash player Suraj Kumar Chand became the first Indian to win the individual gold medal at the FISU (International University Sports Federation) World University Squash Championship, held at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Maharashtra.
