- Scientists have identified the new flowering plant Osbeckia ulotricha of the Melastomataceae family in the Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve of the Western Ghats.
- The Tamil Nadu government has shortlisted Cheyyur in Chengalpattu district and Manellore near Gummidipoondi in Tiruvallur district as the possible sites for Chennai’s second airport.
- The move follows the State government’s decision to drop the proposed greenfield airport at Parandur and identify alternative sites.
