  • The Bihar State Legal Services Authority (BLSA) will establish the country’s first Victim Rights Centre as a pilot project in Patna.
    • The centre will provide victims with a single point of entry to access support and identify their legal entitlements.
  • Researchers from the Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute (JNTBGRI) discovered a new Begonia species, Begonia rajvikramanii, in Rosemala, Kollam district, Kerala.
    • The species was named after R. Raj Vikraman, former Head of the Garden Management Division at JNTBGRI.
  • India’s indigenous Kaveri dry engine achieved a peak dry thrust of 48.5 kilonewtons (kN) during recent high-altitude and flight trials in Russia.
    • The engine is developed by the DRDO for India’s Ghatak Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV).
  • The Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying launched the Pashudhan Bima Portal in New Delhi to streamline livestock insurance services.
    • The portal aims to protect livestock-dependent households from financial losses and improve rural livelihood security.
  • The Indian Peafowl (Pavo cristatus) was recorded for the first time in Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve, Assam.
    • The Indian Peafowl is the national bird of India and belongs to the pheasant family (Phasianidae).
  • World Contraception Day was observed on 26 September 2026 to spread awareness about contraception and family planning.
    • The theme for the year 2026 is “No Barriers, Just Choices.”
