- The project was titled “Creation of Reference Genome Database for Tribal Population in Gujarat”.
- It is implemented by the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC).
- It is funded under the 2025–26 state budget.
- The initiative aims to detect genetic disorders like sickle cell anaemia, thalassaemia, and hereditary cancers, enabling early intervention and precision healthcare.
- Collected genetic data will help identify markers for natural immunity and support personalized healthcare solutions, while empowering tribal communities through advanced technology.
