UN Cybercrime Convention 2026

India’s External Affairs Minister signed the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, strengthening India’s participation in global efforts to combat cybercrime.
It is the first comprehensive global treaty on cybercrime, aimed at strengthening international cooperation against cyber offences.
The Convention supports cross-border investigations, sharing of electronic evidence and prosecution of cybercrime.
It helps countries investigate crimes involving Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
It addresses both technical and legal challenges created by transnational cybercrime.
It also supports the recovery of criminal proceeds linked to cybercrime.
