  • India is participating in the inaugural United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • It covers four clusters of issues related to artificial intelligence.
  • These clusters are AI’s social and economic implications, bridging the global AI divide, promoting safe and trustworthy AI, and safeguarding human rights in the context of AI.
  • A second session of this will follow in New York in May 2027
  • The Global Dialogue on AI Governance is a universal, multi-stakeholder UN forum established under General Assembly Resolution 79/325.
  • It is the first universal, multi-stakeholder forum on AI governance under the United Nations system.
  • It is following the Global Digital Compact adopted as part of the Pact of the Future in September 2024.
  • It will receive the annual report of the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI (IISPA).
  • IISPA provides first independent scientific assessment of the capabilities, emerging opportunities and risks of AI.
