India is participating in the inaugural United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva, Switzerland.
It covers four clusters of issues related to artificial intelligence.
These clusters are AI’s social and economic implications, bridging the global AI divide, promoting safe and trustworthy AI, and safeguarding human rights in the context of AI.
A second session of this will follow in New York in May 2027
The Global Dialogue on AI Governance is a universal, multi-stakeholder UN forum established under General Assembly Resolution 79/325.
It is the first universal, multi-stakeholder forum on AI governance under the United Nations system.
It is following the Global Digital Compact adopted as part of the Pact of the Future in September 2024.
It will receive the annual report of the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI (IISPA).
IISPA provides first independent scientific assessment of the capabilities, emerging opportunities and risks of AI.
