- Qatar has become the eighth country to join India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) network.
- Qatar National Bank partnered with NPCI International Payments Limited to enable QR code-based UPI payments.
- The new system allows Indian travellers to make instant digital payments at local stores and tourist spots in Qatar.
- Other countries using UPI include Bhutan, France, Mauritius, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates.
