- The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has increased UPI limits for specific verified merchant categories effective September 15, 2025.
- The per-transaction limit for capital markets, insurance, and government e-Marketplace has been raised from ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh.
- The 24-hour cumulative limit for these categories is now ₹10 lakh, up from the earlier lower limits.
- Credit card payments now have a ₹5 lakh per-transaction limit and a ₹6 lakh daily limit via UPI.
- Collections like loan repayments and EMIs also have a ₹5 lakh per-transaction and ₹10 lakh daily limit.
- Limits apply only to Person to Merchant (P2M) transactions with verified merchants; Person to Person (P2P) limits remain at ₹1 lakh.
