September 7 , 2025 16 hrs 0 min 24 0
  • Three roads were recently laid in the Theni district inside the Srivilliputhur–Meghamalai Tiger Reserve without forest clearance.
  • These roads cut through Myladumparai Reserved Forest, violating the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980.
  • The constructions threaten critical tiger, elephant, and leopard habitats in this ecologically fragile corridor.
  • At least 12 more road projects are reportedly planned within the reserve, raising serious conservation concerns.
  • The Meghamalai Tiger Reserve is part of a corridor linking the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Kerala to the forests of Tamil Nadu.
