- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced a new e-sign feature on the ECINET portal and app from September 2025.
- Applicants must now verify their identity using Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers to register, delete, or correct voter details.
- The process involves Aadhaar-based OTP verification through an external portal managed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC).
- It was first used during the June 2025 bye-elections to streamline voter turnout reporting and election data handling.
