- India has ranked 131 out of 146 countries in the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2025.
- With a parity score of just 64.1%, India is among the lowest-ranked countries in South Asia.
- This rank stood behind its neighbours like Bhutan (119th), Nepal (125th) and Sri Lanka (130th).
- India was ranked 129th last year.
- Iceland leads the rankings for the 16th year running.
- It is followed by Finland, Norway, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
- The global gender gap has marginally narrowed in 2025, from 68.4% in 2024 to 68.8% in 2025.
- High-income economies have closed 74.3% of their gender gap.
- Pakistan (148), Sudan, Chad, and Iran ranked at the bottom.
