- Most deaths were caused by wild elephants (522), followed by gaur, wild boar, deer, and bear.
- The highest number of deaths due to elephant attacks was reported in 2019 (62 deaths).
- Conflict is severe in the Western Ghats and parts of the Eastern Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu.
- Habitat loss, lack of food and water, and expansion of human settlements are key reasons for the conflict.
