The report is released by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, in collaboration with UNCTAD and others.
Global GDP growth is projected to slow to 2.4% in 2025 (from 2.9% in 2024), and 2.5% in 2026.
India’s GDP growth was revised down to 6.3% in 2025 from 7.1% in 2024.
But it still remains the highest among major global economies/
It is expected to reach 6.4% in 2026.
US growth is projected to fall due to tariffs and policy uncertainty, while China’s growth is estimated at 4.6% in 2025.
Globally, 343 million people face acute food insecurity, with 1.9 million at famine risk in conflict zones like Gaza, Haiti, Mali, South Sudan, and Sudan.
Countries like India, where food forms a large part of household spending, are worst affected by food inflation.
