The Prime Minister of India attended the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The World Nomad Games (WNG) were established through the 2012 Bishkek Declaration and were first held in 2014 to promote the traditions and cultural heritage of nomadic peoples.
The 2026 Games feature traditional sports such as Kok Boru, Kurash, Goresh, Mongol Bokh, archery and Toguz Korgool.
Kok Boru, a traditional Kyrgyz horseback game similar to polo, was recognised by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2017.
