World Pneumonia Day 2025 - November 12

  • The aim is to spread awareness and fight pneumonia, the leading infectious killer of children and adults.
  • It was first observed in 2009 by the Global Coalition Against Child Pneumonia.
  • Pneumonia is contagious and spreads through coughing, sneezing, or contact with infected fluids.
  • The disease is caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi affecting the air sacs (alveoli) in the lungs.
  • The theme for 2025 is "Child Survival".
