World Stroke Day 2025 – October 29

  • The day aims to inform the public about stroke risks, recognize early symptoms, and promote timely medical intervention.
  • Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability worldwide.
  • In India, approximately 18 lakh people suffer a stroke annually, with an incidence rate of 145 per 100,000 population.
  • The day was established on October 29th, 2004, at the World Stroke Congress in Vancouver, Canada.
  • The theme for 2025 is "Every Minute Counts".
