- China launched the world’s first dual-tower solar-thermal power plant in the Gobi Desert.
- It uses 27,000 mirrors called heliostats to concentrate sunlight onto two 200-meter towers.
- The towers generate heat up to 570 degrees Celsius to produce steam that drives turbines.
- This system allows electricity generation even after sunset or during cloudy weather.
- The dual-tower design increases efficiency by about 25 percent compared to single-tower plants.
