World’s First 2D Non-Silicon Computer

July 4 , 2025 14 hrs 0 min 20 0
  • The Penn State researchers in the USA have developed the first computer fully made with 2D materials, not silicon.
  • This innovation could lead to low-power, high-performance computers in the future.
  • The computer is based on CMOS (the complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) technology.
  • It uses two different 2D materials:
    • Tungsten Di selenide for p-type transistors
    • Molybdenum disulphide for n-type transistors.
