- Two epigraphists have discovered inscriptions referring to a collapsed temple dating back to the Chola era near Lalgudi in Trichy district.
- It refers to an ancient temple which probably existed during the Chola period.
- They estimated that the period of the lost temple to be 11th century.
- The inscription states that the village administrative body met at the courtyard of Thiru Ayotthiyalvar temple during the rule of Kulotthunga I Chola to carry out administrative activities.
