- The Marrakesh Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization was signed on 15 April 1994.
- It led to the birth of the WTO on 1 January 1995.
- The WTO incorporates the principles of the GATT and provides a more enduring institutional framework for implementing and extending them.
- Now, WTO has 164 member countries and 23 observer governments.
