Rival factions of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) reunited after a split in the party’s Legislature wing in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
The two groups were led by Edappadi K. Palaniswami and S. P. Velumani.
The split happened during the confidence vote for the Chief Minister government on May 13, 2026.
Rebel MLAs led by Velumani voted in favour of the government, while the Palaniswami group voted against it.
Both factions withdrew petitions seeking the disqualification of each other’s MLAs from Speaker J. C. D. Prabhakar.
Some MLAs resigned or changed sides during the crisis before both groups finally reached a truce on May 27, 2026.
