- Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully test fired AKASH-MK-1S missile from Chandipur, Odhisa.
- AKASH Mk1S is a surface to air missile which can neutralize advanced aerial targets.
- This supersonic missile has a range of around 25 km and up to the altitude of 18,000 metres.
- The other variants of the missile with improved accuracy and higher ranges under development by the DRDO are Akash MK1, Akash-MK2.
