- European and Japanese space agencies announced that an Ariane 5 rocket successfully lifted a BepiColombo spacecraft into orbit.
- It is a joint mission to Mercury.
- The spacecraft is named after Italian scientist Giuseppe “Bepi” Colombo.
- BepiColombo will release two probes that will independently investigate the surface and magnetic field of Mercury.
- Bepi, developed by European Space agency
- Mio, developed by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s (JAXA)
