  • Astronomers has discovered the closest-known Black Hole to Earth using the International Gemini Observatory.
  • The dormant black hole, dubbed Gaia BH1, sits 1,600 light-years away in the constellation Ophiuchus.
  • The black hole weighs 10 times the mass of our sun.
  • It is three times closer to Earth than the previous record-holder, an X-ray pair in the constellation of the Monoceros.
