- The Tamil Nadu government introduced a Bill seeking to protect the people from coercive actions of money lending entities.
- This bill is named as Tamil Nadu Money Lending Entities (Prevention of Coercive Actions) Bill, 2025.
- Intimidating the borrower or any of his family members, obstructing or using the violence, interfering with any property owned or used by the borrower are part of the description that shall constitute an offence.
- Punishments for specified offences include imprisonment up to three years and it may also further extend to five years or fine up to five lakhs, or both.
