- Sri Lanka, Japan and India have signed an agreement to jointly develop the East Container Terminal (ECT) at the Colombo Port in Srilanka.
- The ECT is located very near the China-backed international financial city in Colombo known popularly as “Port city”.
- Over 70 % of the transhipment business at the strategically located ECT is linked to India.
