- Sushil Kumar secured a gold medal at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa. This is Sushil’s first international medal since his gold medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
- Competing in the 74kg weight categotry, he defeated New Zealand Akash Khullar in the final to clinch the gold medal for India.
- India’s other wrestler in same category, Parveen Rana won a bronze medal.
