Arunachal Pradesh’s traditional blade Dao and highland cheese Yak Churpi received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag in November 2025.
Dao is handcrafted by tribal artisans using traditional forging methods and represents cultural identity and craftsmanship.
Yak Churpi is a dairy product made from indigenous Arunachali Yak milk, mainly in West Kameng and Tawang districts, with a dense texture, high nutrition, and long shelf-life.
Arunachal Pradesh has about 20 GI-tagged items so far and aims to reach 50 by 2030.
