The number of most affected districts by Left Wing Extremism (LWE) has reduced from 6 to 3, limited now to Bijapur, Sukma and Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh.
The total number of LWE affected districts has decreased from 18 to 11 across India.
In 2025, a record 312 LWE cadres were eliminated, including the General Secretary and 8 other senior leaders of the Communist Party of India (Maoist).
In 2013, 126 districts reported LWE violence, which declined to just 18 districts by March 2025.
The government aims to completely eradicate Left Wing Extremism by 31 March 2026.
