- The Union Public Service Commission had approved a panel comprising three names - Sylendra Babu, Karan Singha and Sanjay Arora.
- After that the Tamil Nadu government has to choose its choice from these three names.
- The selected DGP will hold office for a tenure of two years.
- The ADGP rank officers who had completed 30 years of service will be eligible for the DGP post.
- The UPSC follows the Supreme Court's order issued in the Prakash Singh case of 2006 for the selection process.
