The Government of India dissolved the Digital Communications Commission (DCC) after nearly 37 years of functioning.
The DCC was originally established as the Telecom Commission in April 1989 and renamed DCC in October 2018.
It was the apex inter-departmental body for telecommunication and digital communication policy and administrative matters.
The Union Cabinet approved its dissolution on 16 September 2026, and the government resolution took effect on 19 September 2026.
The decision followed overlap between DCC members and Department of Telecommunications (DoT) advisers, along with vacant key posts.
