The Government of India has notified the country’s first standards for cloud computing, data centre performance, and Ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The standards were notified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018.
These standards are aligned with international frameworks of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
They introduce measures such as the Cooling Efficiency Ratio (CER) to evaluate the cooling performance of data centres.
The standards also promote ethical principles in Artificial Intelligence (AI), such as transparency and reduction of bias.
