- Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology (TNSDA) conducted a 12-day underwater survey off the Poompuhar coast focusing on the ancient port city of Kaveripoompattinam.
- The survey covered the stretch between Thirumullaivasal and Neithavasal and traced locations earlier identified by archaeologist S. R. Rao.
- The collected data is under analysis, and a second phase of the survey is planned when sea conditions become favourable.
