Gavi and UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) signed an agreement to make R21/Matrix-M malaria vaccines more accessible.
The deal will save up to $90 million, providing over 30 million extra doses for nearly 7 million more children in five years.
WHO prequalified R21/Matrix-M and RTS, S/AS01, both reducing malaria cases by 50–75% in high-risk children.
Over 40 million doses have been delivered through Gavi’s malaria vaccination programme in 24 African countries, covering 70% of the global malaria burden.
