Delhi ranked 268th among 1,000 cities in the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index (GCI) 2026.
The Global Cities Index is an annual report by Oxford Economics that evaluates cities on Economics, Human Capital, Quality of Life, Environment and Governance.
New York topped the index, followed by London, Paris, Seattle and San Francisco.
Among Indian cities, Delhi (268) ranked highest, followed by Bengaluru (311), Mumbai (330), Chennai (381), Hyderabad (421) and Pune (427).
Around 100 Indian cities were included, with 55 Indian cities among the world’s 100 fastest-growing city economies.
Bengaluru improved by 20 places and was listed as a “City to Watch”, while Delhi ranked 13th globally in Human Capital.
