- Minister of Department of Animal Husbandry of Tamilnadu K. Radhakrishnan announced that a goat research centre will be set up in the newly created Tenkasi district.
- He also announced that a new Veterinary Medical Science University Training and Research Centre will be set up in the Tuticorin district.
