Governor’s Rule imposed in Jammu and Kashmir

- President Ram Nath Kovind has given his assent to the imposition of Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
- This is the eighth time in the last four decades J&K was put under Governor’s rule and third time under J&K Governor N N Vohra tenure.
- The state Assembly has been put under suspended animation.
- The Union Home Ministry has appointed B.B. Vyas along with a super cop and anti-Naxal expert K. Vijay Kumar as advisers to Governor N.N. Vohra.
- Chhattisgarh-cadre IAS officer B.V.R. Subrahmanyam was on Wednesday appointed as the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir in place of B.B. Vyas.
