Gujarat Wetland - Black-Necked Stork Breeding

Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary in Gujarat was identified as a major breeding site for the Black-necked Stork.
The Black-necked Stork is classified as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List.
Researchers recorded a peak population of 21–23 storks during surveys conducted from July 2024 to March 2025.
Four active nests produced eight young birds during the October–December breeding season.
All the nests were built on Neltuma juliflora, an invasive tree locally known as gando baval.
Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary is a Ramsar wetland site in Jamnagar district, Gujarat.
