- The National People’s Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) of China has unanimously passed this law.
- Back in 1997, on 1st July, the Hong Kong City was handed over to China as a Special Administrative Region from the British rule.
- Matters related to foreign affairs and defence of Hong Kong only are controlled by China.
