- International airlines could start providing Internet onboard over Indian skies in the next three months.
- Domestic airlines will need additional time.
- Once aircraft reaches 3000m height it gets internet through geostationary satellites.
- These satellites beam signals directly on to the antenna of the airplane.
- Only INSAT satellite of India has been permitted for this purpose.
- The direct transmission of internet through satellites will be carried over
- The Ku Band: 12-18 gigahertz (GHz)
- The Ka band: 26-40GHz
