- The International Day of Persons with Disabilities observed on December 3 every year which aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
- This year the theme for this day is “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all”.
- WHO figures say that 15.3% of the world’s population lives with some kind of disability.
- India’s 2011 census says that 2.21% of the population have disabilities.
