- On that fateful day 5 firefighters died in a bushfire in Australia.
- The day commemorates the lost lives of firefighters.
- It is dedicated to the fire fighters who risk their lives every day to save life and property.
- The red and blue in the symbol of International firefighter’s day symbolises fire and water respectively.
