The government is setting up a jungle warfare school at Karregutta Hills in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, a former Maoist stronghold.
The school will train forces like the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Chhattisgarh Police, and Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA) in special jungle and cave intervention tactics.
Karregutta Hills, with difficult terrain including caves and waterfalls, was cleared of Naxal control in April 2025 after a major CRPF operation.
This real terrain will help improve training quality.
CRPF leads counter-insurgency and anti-Naxal operations, with around 100 battalions currently deployed for such tasks.
