- The government can give extension in service provided the total tenure does not exceed four years.
- As per the modified rules an additional three months of tenure has been given to Pradeep Kumar Sinha.
- The current Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha has thus become the longest-serving bureaucrat in the post in the country’s history.
