- India recorded 1,31,856 foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) for medical purposes from January to April 2025.
- Medical tourists accounted for about 4.1 per cent of total FTAs during this period.
- Public-Private Partnerships are used to promote the "Heal in India" initiative.
- The Government of India offers e-medical visa and e-medical attendant visa facilities to nationals of 171 countries to facilitate medical visits.
- Top source countries for medical tourists over the last five years include Bangladesh, Iraq, Somalia, Oman, and Uzbekistan.
- Bangladesh consistently leads with 4,82,336 medical tourist arrivals in 2024.
- Total FTAs for medical purposes increased from 1,82,945 in 2020 to 6,44,387 in 2024.
