- X Prize Foundation announced a $1 million “Moonshot Award”.
- That award will go to Israel’s SpaceIL, if its Beresheet spacecraft is able to successfully land on the lunar surface next month.
- SpaceIL was also competed for the Google Lunar X Prize.
- This competition offered a $20 million grand prize to the first privately developed spacecraft to land on the moon, travel at least 500 meters across its surface, and return images and video.
